Our many types of meetings………..

Tuesday Evenings

At 7.00pm on the second Tuesday of every month (except January) we meet and have a guest demonstrator discuss and demonstrate a different aspect of bonsai. We hold bench competition and attendees anonymously decide the best trees exhibited. There is also the opportunity to mingle with peers and purchase items from the various sales tables and to borrow books, magazines and videos from our library.

Stage 1, 2 & 3 Classes

We conduct a series of courses throughout the year that educate people who have comparatively little formal knowledge about bonsai all the way to the most experienced and significant course in Australia for highly experienced bonsai artists.

Free Open Workshops

We hold free workshops on 6 Sunday mornings throughout the year (refer to our calendar) where members and public can bring a tree or two and work either at the own leisure or seek guidance from a more experienced club member. These are informal events and a great way to spend with friends and like minded people.

Competitions

Throughout the year we hold competitions ranging from our monthly bench competition to our Annual Show competition and the Bonsai Open.

Conducted in the right manner, these competitions provide a means by which we can compare our bonsai and see where we can improve them and our skill.

The Bonsai Open is perhaps the most prestigious and unique, currently the only club run competition of its kind in Australia. It is open to every bonsai artist in Australia and offers significant prize money to attract the best possible trees.

Guest Demonstrators

We bring the best Australian bonsai artists each year to spend an entire Sunday with us. Typically they provide a demonstration in the morning and conduct a dedicated workshop with 6 or so people working in the afternoon.

These are great opportunities to learn & a fee is required to participate in morning and afternoon events. Recently we have been joined by Joe Morgan-Payer, Hugh Grant, Andrew Edge, Tony Andrew, Averil Stanley, Doug Harris, Brenda Parker, Chris Di Nola, Evan Marsh, Leigh Taafe, and Andrew Sellman to name just a few.
